PLS Sister School Business Chat

Recruiting Monitors

July 29, 2022

Dear sister school members,

We are seeking volunteer monitors to take part in a trial of the PLS Sister School Business Chat proposed by Miwako Andrews of Adventure English in Tochigi at this year’s convention.

What is "PLS Sister School Business Chat?”

This is an online space where sister school members can chat freely on various topics on a daily basis. The purpose is to increase communication among members, allowing them to connect directly with other sister schools, exchange information, create specific group discussions, and offer advice and consultation. The platform for this chat system will be Slack.

Examples of groups that may be created

  • Event-sharing.

  • How to improve social media interactions with customers.

  • How to improve infant classes.

  • Group for business representatives.

  • Admin chat.

Trial schedule

Initially, we would like to recruit managers and owners for a planned trial period of about three months, in cooperation with Adventure English.

If the initial trial is successful, we intend to continue with expanded access to more monitors.

Based on the success of the trial, we will decide whether to proceed with a formal launch or cancel the project.

Monitors

The initial trial period will be open to owners and managers, and Japanese will be the primary language. Applicants should be able to perform basic operations for general internet services on a PC or smartphone, such as creating accounts, and downloading applications.

Those with experience using Chatworks, Slack, Discord, etc. are encouraged to participate.

We ask that all monitors actively participate in Zoom meetings to provide feedback.
These are scheduled for September 1, 13, and 29, from 13:00-14:00.

How to apply

  • Send an e-mail to honbu@pls-pec.co.jp with the subject line “PLS Sister School Business Chat Monitoring Application”.

  • Include your name, school name, position, and preferred contact e-mail address.

  • Install Slack on your PC, tablet and/or smartphone.

  • The deadline for applications is August 17.

Thank you for your consideration.

Fall Seminars

Resumption of in-person training

For the last two years, we have held training seminars online. We feel that these seminars have been effective, but have always maintained that there is no substitute for in-person training. Although daily Covid-19 case numbers are again rising, we have decided that we cannot delay in-person training any longer. However, in an effort to make the seminar as safe as possible, there will be some changes to the format, including:

  • The seminar will be a one-day event.

  • To make the most of limited time, the seminar will focus on hands-on practice over lectures.

  • The number of attendees will be limited.

Please note that the seminar is subject to changes or cancellation depending on the circumstances at the time. We will endeavour to let you know as soon as possible should anything arise.

We look forward to receiving your application and seeing you in-person in September.
